There is no question that photovoltaic systems (PV systems) need to be expanded in order to consistently reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The AbL expressly welcomes the necessary expansion of renewable energies. However, negative effects on other key areas of society and on critical infrastructure, which also includes agricultural land, must be considered and avoided in this expansion. 

There are numerous control measures and instruments at the municipal, state, and federal levels that contribute to ensuring that PV expansion is implemented in a manner that is compatible with agriculture and the environment. These are described and explained in more detail in this position paper, written by Rosa Braun (climate officer at AbL) and Sabrina Gerdes (agricultural officer at AbL Mitteldeutschland) in collaboration with the AbL Soil Expert Group.
